In this hurry-up working world, there is more that should be done than we can accomplish in the time we are given. We need to find a way to take charge of our tasks and direct the flow of “to-do’s” so there are no traffic jams that clog all progress.
Follow the advice of performance management training instructors—prioritize.
This means that you consider all the tasks on your plate for the day or week or month. Determine which are the most important and which are the most urgent. Tasks that fit into these two categories should rise to the top of your To Do list. Then evaluate the rest. Can some be eliminated as “busy” work that has little real value? Are some so repetitive that they can be addressed less often? Can some be streamlined or shared with other team members?
The key to improving your time management and your productivity is to always focus on the urgent and important and leave the rest for later.
