Done right, performance management can boost the performance of an entire company. But it is no longer just a matter of filling out annual performance review forms. Performance management training in today’s competitive marketplace teaches a far more effective process. Here are some of the characteristics of world-class performance management:

  1. Clear. Performance metrics for both success and failure must be understood, simple and meaningful.
  2. Relevant. The performance expectations that are observed and critiqued must be 100% aligned to the business, the job, and the organizational cultural.
  3. Cultural. The entire organization understands the goal of performance management and supports the continuing effort to learn, grow and increase performance.
  4. Strategic. The goal of performance management is achieved through an intense focus on a critical few high performance indicators in order to build long-term value and alignment with the business’ strategic plan.
  5. Adaptive. As business strategies and goals change, so do the performance parameters and metrics.
  6. Real-time. Feedback is given when positive (or negative) behavior is noticed so there is an opportunity to learn, measure and improve on-the-spot.
  7. User-friendly.  Reporting data are automated whenever possible and the language standardized for ease of use and company-wide understanding.
