You
may be surprised to learn that the low performers often report greater job
satisfaction than their top performing counterparts. The reason seems to be
that low performers know how to hide.
Your
poor performing employees keep to themselves and maintain a low profile. They
are not very productive but are not noticed. A pretty good deal for them…but
bad for the morale of harder working employees and the organization as a whole.
And
the top performers? They are stressed out. They are the ones who are asked to
do the bulk of the work because they are visible, reliable and provide desired
results. This situation is not healthy for them nor for
the company.
Make
sure that your performance management training, processes and systems ferret
out the low performers and either bring them up to higher standards or help
them move on.
Otherwise,
you risk losing your top talent.
